How the Hands Are Played in Texas Holdem

Texas Holdem poker is mainly based on how the different hands are to be played throughout the game. The styles and strategies of the players are slowly unraveled as the game progresses. Round by round, players execute their different moves in the hope of defeating their various opponents. Those who commit the least mistakes have higher chances of winning than those who always commit them.

Another important aspect to know when learning the rules of Texas Holdem is how the different hands are to be played in the game. Let's have a quick look at how the excitement slowly unravels as the different rounds pass. The tension and the thrill arise as the different rounds slowly transpire. In the process, some players may fold, leaving the one and only winner at the end of the game.

The game usually starts with all the players being dealt with a couple of unexposed cards. Players call these first two cards as hole cards. These are the only cards that will be dealt to the players. The other cards would be community cards that every participant would share. All in all, there are four betting rounds. The players bet as each round pass. Meanwhile, those who were not able to continue would fold at any part of the game.

The four betting rounds in the Texas Holdem poker game are the pre-flop, the flop, the turn, and the river. The game usually goes like this. After all the participants have been given their two unexposed cards, the pre-flop betting round would take place. This will be started by the player who is directly seated at the left of the player assigned to put the big blind. A clockwise rotation of betting would then ensue.

After this pre-flop round, the flop betting round will immediately follow. In this round, those players who have yet to fold in the previous round could continue playing. In this round, the dealer is obliged to open three community cards at the center of the table. This event will then be followed by another betting round where players can call, raise or fold.

The flop betting round would then be followed by the turn. In this round, another single community card would be opened and those who have survived the previous round would still be allowed to play. After the fourth community card has been opened, another betting round will take place. If there are more than a single player who remains after this round, the river round will follow.

The fifth and final community card would be opened in this round, after which will be followed closely by another betting round. Most probably, the game would be finished at this point. However, if there are still two players remaining, a showdown will take place where the player who has the more superior hand would emerge as the sole winner of the pot.
